LUBRICATING CONTRA ANGLES AND HEADS

MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES
- AFTER EACH PATIENT
1. Remove handpiece from unit tubing, clean with alcohol
(Do Not use harsh cleaning agents, Do Not place in ultra sonic unit).
2. With bur inserted, place lubricant (2 or 3 drops) into air drive port, - at the same
time, rotate the bur between your fingers forward/backward 1/4 turns for 8 to 10 seconds.
3. Re-connect handpiece to unit tubing, place an autoclave
bag over the handpiece & run 30 seconds to eliminate excess oil from the turbine.
(This procedure is primarily to clean the handpiece not lubricate it).
4. Remove from unit tubing, and autoclave.
5. After autoclaving, allow to cool gradually, about 30 minutes, to room temperature.
6. With bur in handpiece place lubricant (2 or 3 drops) into air drive port, - at the same
time, rotate the bur between your fingers forward/backward 1/4 turns for 8 to 10 seconds.
7. Connect handpiece to unit tubing & run for 30 seconds to eliminate excess oil from
the turbine (this procedure is to lubricate the handpiece).
NOTE: A liquid lubricant (oil) seems to
work best.

MANUFACTURE'S SPECIFICATIONS
LUBRICATING CONTRA ANGLES AND HEADS
- AFTER EACH PROCEDURE
1. Disassemble head from Contra Angle as shown in diagram.
2. Wipe off parts with alcohol, NEVER place any parts in an
ultra sonic unit!
3. Place a lubricant (2 or 3 drops)
into all parts noted by the arrow.
4. Reassemble, the Contra Angle and place it on a Slow
speed motor and run for 30 seconds (this is for cleaning purposes).
5. Autoclave and let cool.
6. Repeat steps 1 thru 4 (this is for lubricating purposes).
